Incredible! Now there is new technology that provides heavy capacity gantry crane travel in both linear and lateral travel directions on a VIRTUAL track. No more in-floor rails, yet these self-propelled gantry cranes provides precision travel in both X and Y directions. The gantry cranes can be programmed to follow precision paths around corners and to even rotate on-center. The gantry trucks have Wheelift’s electrically driven UniloadÒ all-directional steer axle assemblies and precision electronic guidance, where the gantry follows a totally VIRTUAL path consisting of tiny referencing magnets embedded in the floor at fifteen foot intervals along the virtual travel path.
The equalizing fluid suspension of each gantry crane trucks electronically monitors the fluid pressure in each corner zone to assure that every tire in the system is seeing ONLY its share off the load, regardless of the weight of the load being carried or the variations in the floor surfaces. This complete equalized loading under ALL operating conditions, allow the gantry to operate on relatively thin and often quite deteriorated and uneven floor slabs.
